The last in the project’s series of meetings for residents was held in March at the Social Activity Center in Mikolow. This year we focused on home gardens, as this is a valuable space not only for the owner, but also for the environment. Every tree, every rainwater tank and every thoughtful planting has a positive impact on the environment and contributes to the adaptability of the city.

Each of the 6 meetings included lectures and a workshop part. A solid dose of theoretical knowledge was provided by specialists from the Silesian Botanical Garden. Participants learned about ways to adapt and mitigate to climate change holistically and in their own backyards, about usable zones in the garden and the principles of their planning, and learned about the wealth of native plant species by recommended habitat conditions. During the practical part, the participants were divided into 3 groups, and the work of each participant was supervised by one of the specialists. At the last workshop, the course participants received a “Gardener’s Binder” – a binder containing useful information on planning and organizing garden work. At each meeting, warm and cold drinks and a variety of snacks provided strength and energy.
