🌿 Construction of a Safe Pedestrian-Bicycle Route with Blue-Green Solutions 🚴‍♂️🚶‍♀️

We are very pleased to announce the start of the construction of a modern and environmentally friendly Safe Pedestrian and Bicycle Trail (more information). This innovative project is designed to ensure maximum safety and comfort for all users, while taking care of the environment and sustainable use of natural resources.

In order to appropriately manage rainwater from the pavement and enhance the landscape, we designed a number of solutions based on nature:

An infiltration-filtration ditch to effectively absorb and treat rainwater, protecting the path from the flooding effects of heavy rainfall.

Two basins with emergency drainage – will act as a reserve retention basin that will accumulate rainwater in case the absorption capacity of the infiltration-filtration ditch is exceeded.

Rope wetlands and rain gardens that will enliven the environment, supporting biodiversity and creating natural habitats for birds and insects.

Tree and shrub plantings – we will plant as many as 350 trees and 1,600 shrubs, which will become natural shade and contribute to improving air quality around the route.

Bike stops equipped with a green pergola, seating areas and bike racks will provide convenience for trail users.

The Safe Pedestrian and Bicycle Route, along with a green buffer zone, is not only an excellent solution for outdoor recreation enthusiasts, but also an excellent example of how to use effective blue-green solutions in creating a people- and environment-friendly urban environment.

By using nature-based methods to retain and manage rainwater, our bike path will not only be safe and functional, but also green, nature-friendly and attractive to residents.

We will soon invite all cycling and walking enthusiasts to use our new Safe Pedestrian and Bicycle Route. 🌱🚴‍♀️🌳

And right now we encourage you to expand your knowledge and involvement in adapting the city to climate change and enjoy an active lifestyle in harmony with nature!
