🌧️💧 Restoration and enhancement of water retention system , rainwater management and biodiversity enhancement in the space of the Silesian Botanical Garden! 💧🌧️
We are full of enthusiasm, informing you about the implementation of Task 9, which focuses on the restoration and strengthening of the water retention system and rainwater management in the space of the Silesian Botanical Garden. Our goal is to maximize the use and conservation of rainwater and create and maintain diverse habitats for plants and animals. Here’s what we’re planning:
💦 Astatic reservoirs and restoration of hydrophytic pond 💦.
As part of this task, we will be creating astatic tanks to capture and divert excess rainwater. In addition, we will carry out hydrophytic pond restoration by removing excess biomass and de-silting, which will restore the natural functions of these habitats.
🌿 Retention in ditches and underground reservoirs 🌿.
Retention in the ditches receiving rainwater from the highway and the planned bicycle path will be restored. To this end, we will construct filter-infiltration ditches that will receive water from astatic tanks and parking lots, and then transfer it to the hydrophytic ponds that are being restored. In addition, we will install underground concrete tanks to collect water from the site.
🌱 Restoration of habitat and damming capacity 🌱.
We will restore the damming capacity of the ditch by cleaning and profiling, installing levees, and sealing the bottom with clay. In addition, we will restore habitat for riparian forest cover, which will contribute to increasing biodiversity and creating attractive places for plants and animals.
🌍💚 For a better environment and water conservation! 💚🌍
Our activities aim to contribute to environmental protection and sustainable water management. Through rainwater retention and management, we aim to minimize the effects of extreme weather events and preserve water as a precious resource. Creating diverse habitats and restoring natural processes is our way to increase biodiversity and protect our beautiful Silesian Botanical Garden.
