In Mokre, on Zamkowa Street, there is a park created in the 19th century. The old composition, old trees and 3 ponds have been preserved there, the largest of which acts as a retention reservoir for rainwater drained naturally from the areas adjacent to the park.

Originally, the water of the pond was used to drive the mill wheel of the mill located in the park. Currently, the pond serves a recreational function, is a sanctuary for wetland birds, and has a separate and overgrown island. It is located in the catchment area of the Promna stream, which is the drainage of the nearby golf course.

In March 2022, the University of Silesia in Katowice made a bathymetric plan
bathymetric thanks to which we know that the pond has an area of approx: 3800 m2, average depth of 1.12 (maximum 1.89) and its capacity is 4267 m3.

The list of maintenance work done is long:

  • Drainage of inflow water,
  • drying and cleaning the bottom of the pond and a section of the ditch supplying rainwater to the pond from accumulated waste and bottom sediments of organic origin,
  • cleaning, maintenance and stabilization of, among other things, the main overflow (pidla) and sealing of emergency concrete overflow pipes,
  • maintenance of 4 fishing platforms and 1 wooden footbridge,
  • cleaning, dredging and replenishment of aggregate and sand of the water inflow area into the pond, as part of the restoration of the natural filtration and sedimentation chamber – replenishment of granite aggregate,
  • drainage of organic sludge and its disposal,
  • planting and repair of turf, rehabilitation of the area around the pond after the completion of the work on cleaning the bottom of the pond.
