Last week we had the pleasure of hosting representatives of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and the donor countries of the European Economic Area (EEA) Funds, from which our project is subsidized.

The meeting was an opportunity to show the challenges facing Mikolov in the context of adaptation to climate change, show what has already been done, and present plans for the coming months.

A true voyage of discovery is not about finding new lands, but about new insights.

By the way, it is worth recalling what is the EEA and what are the EEA funds?
The European Economic Area is an area/zone of free movement of goods, services, people and capital, between the member states of the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), excluding Switzerland. Established under the agreement, the area is intended to contribute to building a Europe based on peace, democracy and human rights while strengthening the privileged relations between the European Community member states and the EFTA countries, based on proximity, enduring common values and European identity.

Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein – associated in EFTA acting to reduce economic and social disparities between EEA regions in exchange for financial assistance to several EU countries (including Poland), Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway are able to benefit from access to the internal market of the European Union.

Sixteen EU countries, including Poland, currently benefit from this program. The EEA grants are co-financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Each of these countries provides grants based on their size and wealth.
